S&C Electric Company’s Leslie Falkingham Honored with Distinguished Member Award from CIGRE

CHICAGO, November 15, 2022 – S&C Electric Company, a leader in grid modernization, announced today that Engineering Fellow Prof. Leslie T Falkingham has been honored as a recipient of the Distinguished Member Award from CIGRE (International Council on Large Electrical Systems) in Paris.

The award recognizes longstanding members with more than 10 years of service to CIGRE and who have actively participated in the work and development of the association within its study committees and/or national committees. Candidates for the honor are proposed by the CIGRE National Committee and are approved by the president of CIGRE.

Falkingham will receive the honor at a ceremony during the CIGRE UK National Committee Annual General Meeting on November 22, 2022, in Birmingham, England.

“It is a great privilege to receive this award from such an acclaimed and prestigious organization as CIGRE,” said Falkingham. “I can’t think of a better recognition for my many years of dedication, commitment, and contributions, not only to CIGRE but to the power industry as a whole.”

Falkingham has been a member of the CIGRE UK National Committee for 20 years. He was also a permanent member representing the United Kingdom on the A3 Technical Committee (Substation Equipment) for eight years, as well as a participant at the CIGRE annual plenary meetings as part of the UK National Team. During this time, Falkingham also worked within CIGRE to perform research and investigations to help advance the world’s electrical networks. He has participated in a range of working groups and was secretary of the A3-27 Working Group on the use of vacuum circuit breakers at transmission voltages.
